Jens Øster-Mortensen, a Danish journalist, recently left a comment attached to our article, Bullivant & Co, Millwall, London, supplier of Taikoo Sugar Refinery’s aerial ropeway cables. Jens said he had found an object, I presume a marine winch, next to Ballen harbour on the Danish island of Samso which had on it Bullivant No. 2 – Mark Lane 72, London. He thinks it was made around 1880 and erected at Ballen harbour around the same time and was and was used and still is to haul small boats ashore.

Jens sent a couple of photos of the winch and indicated that he would be writing an article about this Samso artifact which I look forward to reading and possibly posting.
