In 2009, the SITA Waste Services Limited became wholly owned by SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT, the largest dedicated environmental company in the world.

Being one of the largest waste management operators in the world, SITA is in a position to provide services covering the entire spectrum of technical expertise, with the long-term vision that is required in both planning and execution.

Formed in 1987, the company was initially a joint venture between the American waste management leader Browning Ferries Industries (BFI) and Swire Pacific Limited.

Due to the acquisition of BFI’s non-American subsidiaries by SITA in 1997, SITA took over BFI’s shareholding in the joint-venture, the name of which became Swire SITA.

Since its entry into the Hong Kong market in 1987, Swire SITA has expanded steadily to become Hong Kong’s foremost waste services company.
