The Sam Tak Uniform Company, Ngau Tau Kok

HF. While walking in the Kwun Tong area on 23rd January 2016 I came across this delightfully old-fashioned looking outlet for the Sam Tak Uniform Company. It’s located at 307 Kwun Tong Road which is actually in Ngau Tau Kok.

The main window reminded me of shops I used to see in the UK in the 1950s and 60s frequently using thick yellow plastic sheets to protect the goods from being damaged by sunlight, though the last time I saw these being used was in Invercargill, New Zealand only a few years ago.

I went in the shop and spoke briefly to two ladies behind the counter. One told me the company had been in business for around 60 years. Since the mid-50s then.

The uniforms, school badges etc which were for many years made in Hong Kong are now produced over the border.
