Industries in the Nai Wai – Fui Sha Wai area, between Tuen Mun and Yuen Long – 1969 dissertation
HF: Victor Sit Fung Sheun wrote his BA dissertation in 1969 on a subject of great interest. Namely the enormous changes that were taking place in a number of villages in the valley between Castle Peak (ie Tuen Mun) and Yuen Long. The area had been agricultural but by the end of the 60s a large number of factories had begun to appear among the plots of vegetables and orchards.
During the same period Shatin was undergoing similar adaptations but of a much heavier form of industrialisation following Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan, Tsing Yi and Kwai Chung where this process had begun in the 1950s.
The Nai Wai – Fui Sha Wai area lies about half way between Yuen Mun and Yung Long and is made up of 11 villages namely, Nai Wai, Sun Fung Wai, Tan Kwai Tsuen, Tim Sum, Hung Shui Kiu, Lei Uk Tsuen, Sai Shan Tsuen, Shek Po Tsuen, Hung Uk Tsuen, Kui Tau Kai and Fui Sha Wai.
